A letter from Henry Clay Stevens (a Black doctor based in Wilmington and husband of Mary Hayes Stevens) to Emily Bissell, declining to help fundraise for the then-segregated Hope Farm. Letters such as this one led the Anti-Tuberculosis Society to establish the segregated Edgewood Sanatorium in 1915.
