This collection houses a range of photographic prints developed by Lubitsh and Bungarz Studio between 1949 and 1989. The studio was founded by Cypen Lubitsh and John X. (Jack) Bungarz, two wartime photographers from New York City who relocated to Wilmington following World War II. Photographs primarily depict buildings, businesses, future development sites, and roadways. The studio maintained contracts with some of Delaware's industry leaders such as Getty Refinery (Delaware City), DuPont (Wilmington) and the Brandywine Raceway (Wilmington). The collection also includes many images of Delaware politicians and photographs from the presidential campaign tours of John F. Kennedy and Richard M. Nixon in 1960.
Bungarz and Lubitsh ran the studio until Lubitsh's death in 1989. The studio sustained a fire in 1963 damaging and destroying some of the earliest negatives. In 1965 they moved their office from Market Street (above the English Grille) to 903 N. Orange Street where it remained until 1989.
