Description
A letter from Elizabeth Banton (a Black teacher from Wilmington and the wife of future Edgewood Sanatorium director Cornwell Banton) to Emily Bissell, declining to promote a fundraiser for the then-segregated Hope Farm Sanatorium. Due to letters such as this one, the Anti-Tuberculosis Society applied for state funding to establish the segregated Edgewood Sanatorium, which opened in 1915.
