Description
A letter from Ellwood Garrett to his granddaughter Agnes Child (later Agnes Child Cremer), written about a year after her father's death and while she still lived with her mother (Emily Garrett Child) in Rochester, New York. Ellwood discusses family goings-on and wishes that Agnes would visit him more often to "get better acquainted with thy cousins." Ellwood mentions a "Leonard" and a "Mary," both unknown, who may have been family friends, cousins, or domestic workers. "Mary" in particular seems to have been responsible for Ellwood's care in his old age.
